Life Pieces To Masterpieces Presents
Connect, Create, Contribute, Celebrate: The Power of Decision Making

“When there’s nothing but ugliness, you’ve got to find beauty somewhere,” is a lesson Larry Quick attributes to his growing up in a violent situation. Quick, now Executive Director of the Washington, DC-based Life Pieces to Masterpieces (LPTM), found beauty, refuge, and meaning in his artwork. Today, his organization helps youth discover their ability to transform challenges into possibilities.

The Choice Colors workshop uses form, color, sound, and smell to teach participants to view every choice they make as a creative process. Whether it’s a stroke of paint on canvas, clay being shaped, or music being written, the end result is your life – a masterpiece. Participants will learn to use LPTM’s “Shield of Faith,” a tool for making everyday decisions guided by wisdom and intelligence, even when confronted by the most difficult circumstances. Choice Colors is part of the LPTM Express: Destination Opportunity curriculum, currently being piloted at Covenant House Washington’s Teen Life Choices Program and at Maya Angelou Public Charter School.

The workshop will include a brief performance, group interaction, role play, and individual and group presentations. Come and discover the power of your decisions at the 2005 National Youth Summit.
